SOCIAL EVENTS

There will be an afternoon/evening opening reception on the grounds of Carnegie Observatories at Santa Barbara Street on Sunday, 16 February. Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served. We encourage participants to register for the meeting at the reception. A dinner banquet has been arranged for Thursday, 20 February. All costs will be covered by the registration fee. Please check the program for times.

Note that there will be shuttle-bus transportation between the Sheraton and Carnegie for the Sunday reception. It will run between 14:00 and 17:00 hrs. You can also take a taxi, which should cost only about $5.00.

There will be a free afternoon reserved for local excursions on Wednesday, 19 February. Here is a list of suggestions for local activities; more ideas are given in the Pasadena Visitors Guide. Of course, there are many more options if you want to venture outside of Pasadena.
